AMES Engineering, Inc. is a certified DBE, MBE engineering consulting firm, founded in 2009, that is committed to excellence. We are pre-qualified with the Illinois Department of Transportation in Highways (both Roads & Streets and Freeways),  Location Design Studies – Rehabilitation Traffic Signals, Safety Studies, Traffic Studies, Lighting (both Typical and Complex), Electrical Engineering, and Construction Inspection. We employ a highly qualified staff of civil, electrical and construction engineers/inspectors, as well as the technical staff all of whom provide high-quality professional services in a cost-effective and responsive manner, within budget and on time.

We have a Civil Engineering staff that has over 75 years of combined experience in various Phase II design services. Our Civil Engineering staff comprises of licensed Professional Engineers (PEs) in Illinois. Our staff prepares Phase II documents and provides a thorough QA/QC. We have experience in Phase II work with The Illinois State Toll Highway Authority (Illinois Tollway), Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) and local municipalities. We have provided design services for Roadway Geometry, Pavement Design, Pavement Marking and Signing, Drainage, Barrier Warrant Analysis, Erosion Control, Maintenance of Traffic, and Traffic Signals.

We have an Electrical Engineering staff that has over 55 years of combined experience in lighting design. Our Electrical Engineering staff is lead by a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Illinois. Our staff prepares Phase II documents and provides thorough QA/QC. We have experience in Phase II work with The Illinois State Toll Highway Authority (Illinois Tollway), Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) and local municipalities. Our work includes designing new lighting systems and upgrading existing lighting systems also preparation of Phase II ITS documents for the installation of Fiber Backbone and relocation of existing fiber.

The AMES clients for Construction Inspection include the Illinois Tollway and the Illinois Department of Transportation. We can provide Resident Engineers (REs), assistant resident engineers, documentation technicians and inspectors.

Our recent and ongoing work experience includes Tollway CURs, IDOT Phase 3 V/V and Tollway and IDOT fixed locations projects. All of our engineering staff have current Documentation of Contract Quantities certification, our RE and assistant RE have OSHA 30 and certifications in areas of expertise such as HMA level I and II.
